This Week At TBSS

We started off the week at TBSS http://www.tearbears.com.au/ with Nat's Challenge - to use either a black & white photo in a layout or use black & white papers for a card/OTP. I love black & white photos and a black & white colour scheme. I was tempted to do both but settled on a predominantly black & white scheme with a splash of colour using the beautiful Urban Lily range of papers & clear stamps. This is my little munchkin when she was still bald and just starting to realise that camera = posing.

Tuesday is Kath's Sketch Challenge. It was a lovely sketch and I chose a fun photo this week of Nick at his laughable best. We gave him this T-shirt as a joke because he had seen a photo of Brett when he was a kid with his name across it! This was the 70's. He always used to make fun of it so we made him one to get back at him. He wore it everywhere!!! Egg was on our face then. The glasses were a joke gift and he wore them all day. (Along with the matching sideburns from time to time).....LOL

Wednesday was Kirsti's quote challenge and she seemed to upset everyone with her choice. As beautiful as it was, it was certainly a little more difficult than I first imagined. The journaling reads "To the world you may be one person. but to one person you may be the world".

Thursday was my Random Challenge. I had got used to saying "no" so this week's challenge was to use anything on a layout but NO patterned paper. Being the staple of scrapbookers worldwide I thought this would be an interesting challenge!

Quote Challenge

Kirsti's Quote/Title Challenge last week was beautiful. I chose to do a layout of my beautiful Nan because she has always been such an inspiration to me!

July Cybercrop

Well Friday was this month's cybercrop and as usual it was an absolute blast! These nights are always heaps of fun with plenty of games and Shell at TBSS gives away some awesome prizes on the night. On top of that she offers a $20 store voucher to the winners of each of the Design Team's Cybercrop Challenges! What a brilliant way to try something new and have a scrap weekend!

My challenge this month was "Recyling". I wanted everyone to use at least 3 items they could scrounge up from around the house on their layout. On my example I used a broken zip, a tag from a bread bag, a page ripped from a notebook, a paperclip from the junk drawer and a cardboard tag cut off from a diary.

Nat's Challenge was to use a non-smiling photo. Here is the layout I created for her challenge.

Kath's challenge was to use something from your stash that has been sitting there for ages. Wow! What a choice. I found I had a lot of stuff that I had bought and not used because I didn't like it....LOL. I ended up deciding on a packet of pink & yellow felt flowers that I thought were just soooo tacky!

Last but not least was Kirsti's challenge to create any OTP. I chose something fairly simple but practical. It now has pride and place on my desk holding my bits and pieces!

My First Random Challenge!

This week was the first time I was to come up with my own challenge as a Design Team Member!! My challenges are issued on Thursday's and are rather appropriately named Random Challenges. Very fitting for someone like me who has trouble ever making a decision...LOL.

For my first one I decided on a theme: Scrap Something/Someone You Can't Live Without! I thought this would be a fun way to start but so that it wasn't too easy I made rules:

NO Kids
NO Mums or Dads
NO Sisters or Brothers
NO Husbands or Partners
NO Best Friends
Anything else was open!
My inspiration for this layout was COFFEE! Can't live without it. Only tried to once! I am one of those people who truly look forward to and enjoy a really nice coffee. Yep I'm addicted.....LOL

Scraplift Challenge & Sepia Challenge

This weeks scraplift chalengee was Kirsti. Kirsti has done some awesome layouts so it was hard to even choose one! I ended up choosing one that had a photo of her grandparents as it reminded me of my own beautiful Nan & Pop.

Nat's challenge for this week was using a sepia photo so I decided to combine the two challenges into one layout as they seemed to fit together really well.

Book Of Me

At TBSS I am taking part in a Book Of Me. Hopefully this will be a legacy to my kids and so far I have found it quite theraputic myself. It's amazing how you can laugh, groan, cry and scream at something in the space of a couple of hours (or less).

This layout was for B.O.M. Layout #4 - Friends

The journaling reads:

I know it probably sounds strange to a lot
of people, but when I was younger, I moved
school a lot of times and we moved house
frequently. I never had a 'best friend' for
long. I spent most of my time playing with
my brother. Building cubby houses, riding
our bikes, exploring.
When I needed a friend my Poppy was there.
Always knowing when to make a joke, or
take me seriously. We would go fishing or
ferreting. He would take me to check on
his bees, show me how the honey was made or
let me help him in his veggie garden.
He would tell me stories that I always believed
and gave me a hug when I needed it most.
As I grew older he had the best advice, taught
me all the right morals and respected
my opinion as well. He knew how to do
everything and I loved to watch him make
stuff. He never dobbed on me and he knew
how to keep a secret.
He was my buddy, my pal, my Poppy and
I miss him with all my heart.
oooo Hugs until next time oooo

This Week At TBSS

This week's colour challenge was inspired by the beautiful Crate Paper Sweet Branch Collection. I chose a photo of my son with his 7th Birthday cake. (I never scrap in date order so I have a backlog of photos waiting to be scrapped!!!! LOL

The quote challenge for this week was "A Smile Is A Curve That Sets Everything Straight". Loved it so much that I used it as the title! This was a photo I took of my kids while they were mucking around on the floor one day. I used Basic Grey Blush Series papers for this layout and they reminded me of some beautiful patchwork fabrics I have so I decided to fussy cut some of the elements from the page and layer them with foam tape for dimension.

Thanks for being here.
Hugs until next time

I will start my blog with some recent layouts I have posted at TBSS (http://www.tearbears.com.au/).

The first one was for this weeks Challenge - Circles. I love using circles on my layouts so I couldn't wait to get this started. The Challenge also had to include bling, stamping & flowers. To challenge myself further I decided to not do a typical girlie layout. I chose this photo of my husband and daughter that I adore. I edited the photo to be black & white , and kept the black & white theme going but added the blue to keep it a little masculine. All that bling & flowers was not going to go down well with my beloved!!

The second layout is for the Sketch Challenge this week. My inspiration for this was my daughter's Princess Antics. She had just got a tiara and because she is the only girl in the family she has always been told she is a Princess. The tiara was a necessity. All princesses need a tiara. So she played the part for the day and her brothers were telling her that even though she had a tiara it didn't mean she was a 'real princess'. So her comeback was "I Am So Too A Princess". The look said it all....LOL

Thanks for looking

Hugs until next time
